Hallway Drawing
The subject of my hallway drawing was the corner of the west side hallway by the chapel which included the statue of Mary. My main focus of the drawing was Mary and instead of drawing the podium exactly, I drew rocks and a waterfall coming down from her feet into a group of flowers. I drew white lilies and roses specifically because those flowers are associated with Mary. My media was a mix of graphite pencil and charcoal pencil.
Still Life
The subject of my still life drawing was a wooden doll surrounded by a wooden branch, silver plate, and handkerchief. My main focus of the drawing was the wooden doll as I tried to use the most value on it. The media I used was charcoal and vine.

Guitar Reflections
My younger brother has been playing the guitar since first grade. At home, you will always hear him in his room rocking out to his electric guitar or playing the acoustic. Music, like art is a gateway for many people to express their individuality. While I express myself through art, my brother does it in his guitar playing. Although reflections are present in his electric guitar, the reflections are so vivid against the acoustic grain you can’t help but be enthralled by it. The texture of the wood grain as well as the form of the guitar makes it the centerpiece of the work, which also helps with the movement, drawing viewers to the reflections first then to the contrasting neck of the guitar.
Banana Croquet
For my colored pencil project, my subject matter was my brother in a banana costume playing croquet. I attempted to create emphasis on my brother, but more specifically the croquet ball by blurring my brother and keeping the ball in focus. I also made the texture of fabric in my brother's costume, shirt, and shorts by using different values of the colored pencils, adding many layers, and blending it all together with baby oil. For the grass, I made the blades prominent in the front with thicker lines, but proceeded to blur the lines together further back. The scale and proportion was accurate and it is evident that the picture is foreshortened with the croquet ball up close and my brother's leg coming to the front. Although many other people decided to cut out or add additional items to their project, I felt that I didn't need to, because the picture seemed wacky enough. My brother and I received a croquet set when we were little from our neighbor and we always played with it when we were younger. It was nostalgic breaking out the croquet items again to take the reference photo and since it was homecoming week, my brother had on a banana costume for one of the dress up days. My goal of the project was to make it look fun and make you take a long look at it because of everything that is going on in the picture.
Pen & Ink
The subject matter of my pen and ink project was myself as a toddler holding my baby brother. I wanted to go outside of my comfort zone and attempt to draw people as part of my last project. There is definitely emphasis on my brother and I as we are in the center of the drawing. The pattern on the wall serves as a nice contrast to the subject matter, but isn't too overbearing in that it overpowers everything else. Using different forms of mark making, I established shadows on objects. For most objects, I used cross-hatching and to create more value I added more lines. For part of the duck costume and pants, I scumbled to create a unique texture which would contrast against the crosshatching. I also used washes to establish more value and create other shadows. The different black and gray tones in the drawing give me a nostalgic feeling of my childhood.
