Charcoal Project
I was in a fall mood and decided to paint pumpkins on a decorative window. Using the prompt of lost/displaced, a teddy bear is rested against one of the pumpkins.
Colored Pencil
For the colored pencil sketchbook assignment, I decided to make my piece based off of the conflict prompt. Taking the silhouette of a girl, I used watercolor to paint a thunderstorm at sea with lightning. I etched out the lightning bolt with a sharp knife and then used acrylic paint to make the bolt more prominent. The thunderstorm symbolizes the conflict that is present in the girl's mind.
Pen & Ink
For the pen and ink project sketchbook assignment, I used charcoal to draw an eye with a clock as its iris with a hand reaching out. I was inspired by an old clock at my house that used roman numerals and decided to use it as part of the iris. I titled the piece "Eye Don't Have Time" because of the play on words but also because I feel the stress of time against me especially this year. Putting a darker value around the outer ring of the iris draws the viewer into the eye first when you first look at it.
